Inside Issue #4...

1) Real World Fat Loss - Alwyn Cosgrove Explains Why His Programs Work

Not only does Alwyn share his stubborn fat loss protocol, but he explains why some people lose fat while on a recovery week...

CB: Have you had clients lose a surprising amount of fat when they either a) Increased their calorie intake; or b) took a week off from hard training? If so, how do we explain these results? How can people lose fat while exercising less and eating more?

AC: The biggest factor in fat loss is metabolism -- and our goal is to raise it as much as possible. Sometimes excessive aerobic training or excessive lower intensity training can actually lower metabolism -- as can extended periods of keeping your calories too low.

I think there is a "Whoosh" effect to dieting (got the term from Lyle McDonald actually).

Read about the "whoosh" effect and Alwyn's stubborn fat loss methods here.

Homemadde Chin up/Pull up bar idea: http://www.crossfit.com/discus/messages/26/19084.html I plan to add one of these once the dungeon... err basement renos are completed (fairly soon).

More assorted homemade training equipment: http://www.angelfire.com/ny5/shenandoah/Grunt/grunt.html Lots of ideas, including a removable doorway pull up bar.
